Surprise Proposal | Kanapaha Botanical Gardens
Some sessions stay with you long after you pack up your camera. This was one of those.
This surprise proposal was months in the making and filled with so much intention, trust, and love. The couple was visiting Gainesville all the way from California to attend a UF graduation ceremony, which made the timing even more special. What she thought was a simple outing at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens quickly turned into a moment she’ll remember forever.
From the very beginning, Theo and I worked closely together to plan every detail. Countless texts, phone calls, shared photos, videos, and even FaceTime conversations went into making sure everything came together seamlessly. Since he’d never been to Gainesville and wasn’t familiar with the area, I did my best to be his eyes on the ground, scouting locations, sharing video walk-throughs, and offering suggestions. In the end, though, he had to place full trust in me, and I don’t take that lightly.
Hidden nearby was an entire entourage of family members, quietly waiting and watching as the plan unfolded. The proposal itself was absolutely perfect, heartfelt, emotional, and beautifully timed. To make the moment even more special, Theo had arranged for flowers and a stunning dress so she could change afterward, allowing us to capture engagement photos that felt elevated, joyful, and completely them.
Once she said yes, and she absolutely did, the celebration truly began. Happy tears, embraces, laughter, and the kind of energy that reminds you why moments like this are such an honor to photograph. Being trusted with documenting such a meaningful milestone, especially when so many moving parts are involved, is something I will never take for granted.
Congratulations to this incredible couple. Thank you for letting me be a small part of such a big, beautiful beginning.
